Readme Version 1.0c This firmware is for CRW6416S. * DO NOT USE THIS FIRMWARE FOR OTHER DEVICES. * DO NOT USE THIS UTILITY PROGRAM TO INSTALL OTHER VERSIONS OF THE FIRMWARE. Before upgrading the firmware: 1, Check the SCSI ID number of the Yamaha recorder and the SCSI Card number. Look at the CD Recorder Property in the mastering software. 2, Disconnect all other SCSI devices if they are connected to the same computer. 1) This folder contains three files as stated below. 1, Scb99826.bin Updated Version 1.0c 2, Scinst.exe Installer program to execute firmware upgrade (for DOS version) Version 1.13 3, ScREADME.txt Instruction for the upgrade 2) How to install the new firmware. Connect the recorder to the host PC via SCSI I/F. Turn the recorder on (no disc in the drive). Turn on the host PC and start the MS-DOS Prompt from Windows 95/98. 3)These two files should be put in the same folder. 1, Scb99826.bin 2, Scinst.exe COMMAND Type in: scinst scb99826.bin 3 0 usage......scinst [Fn][ID][Scnum] [File name] Scb99826.bin (new firmware file) [CRW6416S SCSI ID] 3 if there is only one device connected Although the Default setting is "3" it can be changed to any numbers from 0 through 6 if more than one SCSI devices are connected. [SCSI Card number] 0 if there is only one SCSI board being used Although the Default setting is "0" it can be changed to any numbers from 1 through 7. The system may automatically change SCSI Card number when a new device is added. Check with the SCSI Card number in the "CD-R Properties" of the mastering software. CRW6416S receives the binary data from the PC via SCSI line to be stored into internal buffer in the drive. If error occurs, "SCSI I/O error occurred" will appear. If you have any troubles, please check with the connection or selected SCSI ID conflict or AC power supply or anything else that may be causing the error. CRW4416S starts the binary data copy from internal buffer to its flash memory after all data is received from the PC. ON/DISC LED and READ/WRITE LED on the front panel will blink during the process. When it finishes, DISC/ON LED becomes solid orange and READ/WRITE LED will be turned off. After that, power down the CRW drive to reset the system. You can check the firmware version number with the INQUIRY command or by rebooting the PC and the CRW. If the installment is completed properly, MSCDEX can mount CRW6416S using a generic CD-ROM device driver. The device type of CRW6416S is "5". Therefore a generic CD-ROM device driver can be used for this drive. 3)How to get the new firmware. This http site http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product/computer/
